ABOUT US

SSBL-Madison

SSBL-Madison is the organization that was known as Madison Gay Softball in the 2004 and 2005 Seasons.  In order to enable our league to grow, we organized and joined forces with SSBL-Milwaukee (the LGBT softball league in Milwaukee), during the off-season in 2005.

SSBL-Milwaukee

SSBL-Milwaukee is one of the oldest Gay Softball Leagues in the country and was one of the founders of the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance (NAGAAA); the event planning organization for the Gay Softball World Series.  SSBL-Milwaukee offers Madison Gay Softball many tangible and intangible assets with the merger of our two leagues.  Milwaukee offers Madison almost 30 years of experience in running a Gay Softball League, which will help us avoid repeating mistakes made in the past and providing our members with a world-class organization.  In addition, members of the Madison league are now eligible to participate in the Gay Softball World Series under Milwaukee's NAGAAA membership.

Madison Gay Softball

Madison Gay Softball grew out of the desire to provide the Madison Gay Community with an opportunity to participate in, and grow an appreciation for, the game of softball.  What has developed has far exceeded our expectations.  Madison Gay Softball has evolved into an institution that has revitalized the Gay Community and enriched the lives of our members, both players and non-players, gay and straight.

From our humble beginnings as a single team in 2002 (with a 0-15 record) to an 11 Team Recreational League, 6 Competitive Women’s Teams, 1 Competitive Co-Ed Team that plays in Milwaukee's league, and 3 Competitive Men’s Teams in 2007, LGBT softball in Madison has proven its ability to survive, grow, and develop our community into a family.
