About Felicia Melton-Smyth

Felicia Melton-Smyth was SSBL-Madison's biggest fan and cheerleader. On May 26, 2008, she was tragically taken from us while on vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Felicia used her voice as the cruise director of the Shamrock Bar to make sure all of Madison’s LGBT sports leagues succeeded by promoting their fundraisers, hanging posters, and recruiting members. She served on Madison Gay Hockey Association’s Board of Directors and was SSBL-Madison's Community Service Chair. The growth and success of Madison’s LGBT sports leagues would not have been possible without her. To honor her, we host this softball tournament to remember how much she enjoyed our games and the togetherness they brought to our community and to thank her for encouraging and inspiring us. All proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the AIDS Network.

About the Tournament

The 1st Annual Felicia Melton-Smyth Memorial Tournament was held on August 16th and 17th, 2008, with eleven teams in two divisions - 8 competitive teams and 3 women's teams. Through August 20, 2008, the tournament raised $1,627.23 for the AIDS Network. Jell-O shots are still available for $1 each at the Shamrock Bar! All money collected will be added to the final total donated to the AIDS Network. For an accounting of the money raised, click on the "2008 Proceeds" link in the table below.
