Why do we wear "FMS" on our shirt sleves?
Felicia Melton-Smyth was SSBL-Madison's biggest fan and cheerleader. On May 28, 2008, she was tragically take from us while on vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Felicia used her voice as the cruise director of the Shamrock Bar to make sure all of Madison's LGBT sports leagues suceeded by by promoting their fundraisers, hanging posters, and recruiting members.
She was
SSBL-Madison's Community Service Chair and served on Madison's Gay Hockey Board of Directors.
The success and growth of Madison's LGBT sports leagues would not have been possible without her.
As a tribute to our dear friend and our #1 fan we proudly wear the initials "FMS" on our shirt sleeves.
To honor Felicia, the SSBL-Madison Softball League hosts the Felicia Melton-Smyth Memorial Softball Tournment to remember how much she enjoyed our games and the togetherness they brought to our community and to thank her for encouraging and inspiring us.
