Results of Danny Vance Memorial Softball Tournament The 4th Annual Danny Vance Memorial Softball Tournament was a huge success raising nearly $4,000 for ACE & TJ's Grin Kids (www.grinkids.net). Annually, ACE & TJ's Grin Kids sends 12 kids and their families to Disney World with all expenses paid. Three teams with SSBL connections also placed during the tournament: Woof's Madd Dawgs took second place, while a team comprised of players from several of SSBL's teams took third place. Also, a team comprised primarily of women from the Tuesday Night Mad Women League took home the consolation tournament trophy. Congratulations to all the teams that participated and to Jimmie Dillon for doing such a great job!

Volunteers Needed for Poison Concert - Saturday, July 12th Since we are a non-profit organization, we are able to take advantage of special opportunities to raise money for our league. One of these opportunities is volunteering to sell beer and concessions at Alliant Energy Center events. We have been offered to work two beer caddies at this event and need 20 volunteers! Volunteers do not need to be league members. Work Starts at 4:00. See Dawn (Green team coach) or Markie (Assistant Commissioner) to sign-up on Monday nights or contact Dawn at dawnsiebert@gmail.com. Money raised at this event will go towards the 2009 ASANA World Series!

Rules and Sportsmanship - PLEASE READ Our league is an officially recognized MSCR league. We must follow their rules, one of which is absolutely no drinking during games. If you're drinking during a game, you can be ejected by the umpire. We also have our own rules related to unsportsmanlike conduct, which is defined in our Softball Code as derogatory comments or gestures toward any other player, coach, umpire, or spectator in the stand; arguing with the umpire or coach; physical altercations; throwing equipment; vulgar language; and any conduct that could be deemed offensive to the average individual players in SSBL-Madison. The purpose of Monday night softball is to create a safe environment for all players, regardless of skill level or sexual orientation. If there is ever a situation that you believe threatens creating this environment, please bring it to your coach or a board member's attention and it will be dealt with by our Softball Code Committee.

Interleague Games with Milwaukee set for Pride Weekend! On Saturday, July 19th, our league will host Milwaukee's LGBT softball teams. Each of our teams will play one or two of their teams. Please make yourself available on this date as it will be a fun day and a great opportunity to interact with other teams. If enough players are not available, teams may be combined and adjustments may be made to match competition levels with their teams as their league is competitive and ours is recreational.
