2009 was a big tournament year for SSBL Madison. We hosted the ASANA World series bringing 42 teams from across the country to Madison including the OutFielders, L Team, and Miss Fits. Two Madison teams played in the NAGAAA Gay Softball World Series hosted in Milwaukee including WOOF'S Madd Dawgs and the Madison Red Dragons. We also held our 2nd Annual Felicia Melton-Smyth Tournament, which brought 13 teams to Madison for a weekend of softball and celebration.
2009 League/League Members Awards and Recognition
- Outreach Organization of the Year
- Outfielders won 2nd Place in the ASANA World Series
- Felicia-Melton Smyth Memorial Tournament
- Out Queens - 3rd Place in the Recreational Division
- WOOF'S Madd Dawgs - 1st Place in the Competitive Division
- L Crush - 4th Place in the Recreational Division
- Bed, Bar, and Beyond - 5th Place in the Competitive Division
- The Doug Hinderliter Character Award was given to Maria Parker and Ben Monty. One hundred dollars was donated to Wisconsin Capitol Pride and the Gay Straight Alliance for Safe Schools in their names.
